The MHS band program has two symphonic bands. They both start to meet as separate groups at the start of the second semester. The Concert Band meets on Gold 1 and is comprised primarily of freshman and sophomores. The Wind Ensemble meets on Black 1 and is composed primarily of juniors and seniors. Sometimes the director will move students around to complete instrumentation needs or if a younger player needs to be moved up. All juniors and seniors are in the Wind Ensemble and will not be moved down to the concert band. The symphonic bands will perform at the Winter Concert in December (this is still combined from marching band), the Spring Concert in March and the Pops Concert in May. The concert schedule for the 2022/2023 season is below:
WINTER CONCERT - Thursday - December 15th at 7PM
SPRING CONCERT - Monday - March 27th at 7PM
POPS CONCERT - Thursday - May 11th at 7PM
All concerts are held at the MHS Performing Arts Center and are graded activities. All conflicts MUST be presented and resolved BEFORE the event. See handbook for details on the attendance policy
