A big congratulations goes out to Trisha Callies, Kendra Zirpel, Allison Buckley, Sam Weller, Gunnar Miller, Sid Stemper and Joe Morgan for participating in the 2014 SD All-State Jazz Band in Aberdeen on May 8-10. These fine musicians auditioned and were selected from hundreds of applicants from across the state. Seven Mitchell representatives ties our record for highest number of students from our school (there are only 66 students selected from across the state). Great job!
We will hosting our annual solo and small ensemble night on Thursday, May 1st. All students must have the following before they attend that evening:
1) Concert dress black clothing (same as concerts)
2) Copies or original pieces for each member of the group and for the judge

The 2014 All-State Band weekend was held in Pierre on March 27-29. Kendra Zirpel and Sam Weller (both juniors) were selected for their third straight year and Jennifer Luczak was selected her first year (freshman). It is a very prestigious honor to be selected and we are extremely proud of all three of these fine musicians!

Due to the impending weather today, we are not traveling to Brookings for the SDSU Jazz Festival.
Dear Band Parents,
On Wednesday, March 26th, both bands will be traveling to Chamberlain, SD to compete in the Region V Large Group Contest. Each concert band student will need money for lunch unless they want to bring a sack lunch on the bus. ALL BAND MEMBERS NEED TO BE DRESSED IN CONCERT BLACK for their performance. If they want to bring regular clothes to change into, there will be time allowed to change once they get there. Below is the itinerary for both groups:
CONCERT BAND (9th and 10th graders) ITINERARY
11:20AM - Concert Band kids load bus (cruiser)
11:30AM - Depart from Mitchell
12:30PM - Arrive and unload in Chamberlain
12:55PM - Concert Band warms up
1:30PM - Concert Band Performs
2:00PM - Concert Band watches other groups and eats lunch (unless brought their own)
3:30PM - Concert Band loads bus that Wind Ensemble kids come over on (yellow)
3:45PM - Concert Band departs for Mitchell
4:45PM - Approximate arrival into Mitchell
